Introduction
Sodi-Bi-Carb (Vet) is an important treatment for metabolic acidosis, which may develop in severe renal disorders, circulatory insufficiency due to shock, severe dehydration, and severe primary lactic acidosis. Sodi-Bi-Carb (Vet) increases plasma bicarbonate, buffers excess hydrogen ion concentration, improves blood pH, and reverses acidosis symptoms.

Brief Description
Indication
Metabolic acidosis, Acute carbohydrate engorgement. Severe primary lactic acidosis, and barbiturate toxicity. Severe diarrhea generally causes a large loss of bicarbonate in the body.
Administration
The route of administration will vary depending on the animal’s species, weight, and severity of infection. It is important to follow a veterinarian’s instructions carefully.
Dose
1.78-4.46 ml/kg body weight or 100 ml/22-56 kg body weight, administered intravenously. Or, as directed by the veterinary physician.
Mode of Action
Sodium bicarbonate is a chemical compound that acts as a buffer, helping to maintain the proper pH balance in the body. It helps neutralize excess acidity, which can occur due to various metabolic or gastrointestinal issues.
Contraindication
Sodium bicarbonate should not be given to animals that have lost chloride through vomiting or who are on diuretics that cause hypochloremic alkalosis.
