Introduction
OXY-DOX (Vet) is a bacteriostatic agent that inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins in sensitive species.OXY-DOX (Vet) reversibly binds to the bacterial ribosome subunit 30S, impeding the union of aminoacyl-tRNA (transfer RNA) to the mRNA-ribosome complex. OXY-DOX (Vet) prevents the insertion of new aminoacids into the developing peptide chain and inhibits protein.

Brief Description
Indication
Treatment of various bacterial infections in livestock, poultry, and companion animals, including: Respiratory infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis) Urinary tract infections, Gastrointestinal infections, Skin and soft tissue infections, Reproductive tract infections.
Administration
Doxycycline and oxytetracycline can be administered orally (e.g., in feed, water, or as capsules/tablets) or by injection, depending on the specific formulation. Dosages are carefully calculated based on the animal’s species, weight, and severity of the infection.
Dose
For poultry- Prevention: use 1 gram per 4-6 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days. Treatment: 1 gram per 3 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days. Alternatively, as indicated by the Registered Veterinarian.
Mode of Action
Doxycycline and Oxytetracycline are both tetracycline-class antibiotics. They work by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, preventing the bacteria from producing essential proteins required for their survival and proliferation. These antibiotics are effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as some atypical pathogens like Mycoplasma and Chlamydia species.
Contraindication
Should be used with caution in animals that are hypersensitive to the medication.
Precautions
Use caution in animals with renal impairment.
Side Effect
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence,Hepatotoxicity,increased skin sensitivity to UV light, tooth discoloration and enamel hypoplasia.
Pregnancy & Lactation Category Note
Veterinarians avoid using doxycycline and oxytetracycline in conjunction with other tetracycline medicines.
Interaction
Avoid concurrent use of other tetracycline antibiotics.
Storage Conditions
Keep away from light and store in a cool, dry place. Keep out of reach of children.To be dispensed only on the prescription of a registered veterinary doctor.
