Description

Introduction

Keto-A is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by reducing pain, inflammation, and fever in animals.Keto-A achieves these effects by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals that play a key role in these processes.
Uses of Keto-A
Keto-A use as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory .Keto-A treat mild to severe inflammation and pain.
How to use Keto-A
Take Keto-A in the dose and duration as advised by Registered Veterinary Physician.
How Keto-A works
Keto-A works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins, which are involved in pain, inflammation, and fever. By reducing prostaglandin levels, Keto-A provides pain relief, reduces inflammation, and lowers body temperature.
Brief Description
Indication

Cattle: Treatment of lameness of traumatic origin, fractures, tendonitis etc. Management of post-surgical pain, relieving chronic pain (e.g., arthritis etc.) and for the symptomatic treatment of fever (e.g. ephemeral fever, FMD etc.). Reducing pyrexia and distress associated with bacterial respiratory disease when used in conjunction with antimicrobial therapy. Reducing oedema of the udder associated with calving. Improving the recovery rate in acute clinical mastitis, including acute endotoxin mastitis, caused by gram negative bacteria in conjunction with antimicrobial therapy. Supportive treatment of parturient paresis (Milk Fever) associated with calving. Horse: Alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders. Alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic. Dosage and administration

Administration

It is available in oral, injectable, and topical forms. The route of administration will depend on according to the animal’s species, weight, and condition.ย Follow your veterinarian’s instruction.

Dose
Injection- Cattle: For deep intramuscular or intravenous administration. For three days, take one milliliter for 33 kilograms of body weight (3 milligrams per kilogram). For musculoskeletal disorders in horses, administer 1 ml/45 kg body weight (2.2 mg/kg) via intravenous injection once daily for 3โ€“5 days. For equine colic, provide 1 mL/45 kg body weight (2.2 mg/kg) via intravenous injection. If the colic symptoms return, a second injection may be administered. For cattle, administer 1 bolus per 100 kg body weight (4 mg/kg) orally daily for 3 days. Or as instructed by a veterinary physician.
Mode of Action

Ketoprofen reduces pain and inflammation by preventing prostaglandin synthesis, just like other NSAIDs do. COX, or cyclo-oxygenase, is the enzyme that NSAIDs suppress. Both COX-1 and COX-2 are isoforms of the COX enzyme. In order to maintain a healthy gastrointestinal tract, renal function, platelet function, and other regular physiological processes, prostaglandin synthesis is predominantly carried out by COX-1. Prostaglandins, which are crucial mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever, are synthesized by COX-2, an induced protein. However, it is recognized that in some circumstances, the effects of COX-1 and COX-2 might overlap, and that COX-2 activity is crucial for a number of biological consequences. As an inhibitor of COX-1 and COX-2, ketoprofen is nonselective. Its capacity to inhibit lipoxygenase is marginally supported.

Contraindication
Ketoprofen should be used with caution in animals that are hypersensitive to the medication. Food should not be consumed while taking ketoprofen orally due to reduced absorption.
