CA-125 Reagent – Jaj International
The two antigen determinants defined by the monoclonal antibodies OC125 andM11 are found on a heterogeneous group of high molecular weight (200,000-1,000,000) glycoproteins. They can be detected in a high percentage of non–mucinous epithelial ovarian tumors. Furthermore, they are found in some fetal tissues (amnion, periderm, derivatives of the coelomic epithelium) and in adult tissues in the epithelium of the Fallopian tubes, apocrine sweat glands, breast glands, endometrium and endocervix.
Elevated CA 125 assay values in serum are found in most patients with active epithelial ovarian cancer in early stages of the disease already and can therefore be used for therapeutic monitoring of such patients.
