Indication
Amoxicillin is Indicated for the following infectious diseases. In cattle, horse, sheep/goat, pig, dog and cat: Urogenital tract diseases: Mastitis, metritis, pyometra, retained placenta, navel ill, cystitis, nephritis & MMA-syndrome etc. Respiratory diseases: Pneumonia, shipping fever, bronchitis, calf diphtheria, sinusitis, pharyngitis & laryngitis etc. GI tract diseases: Calf scours, salmonellosis, gastritis, enteritis, stomatitis & campylobacteriosis etc. Musculoskeletal diseases: Skin & soft tissue infection, abscess, wounds, foot rot, arthritis, black quarter & eczema etc. For the prevention of secondary bacterial infections followed by in viral or parasitic infections and post-operation. Administration
Available in oral formulations (tablets, capsules, suspensions) for dogs, cats, and other species. Dosage is based on the animal’s weight and the specific infection being treated. Given orally, typically with or after meals. Injectable formulations (intramuscular or intravenous) are also available for more severe infections.
Dose
Amoxicillin bolus: For oral administration only. Livestock: One bolus/125 kg body weight (8 mg/kg) twice daily. Horse: One bolus/25-40 kg body weight thrice daily. Poultry: One bolus/10 liter drinking water twice daily. Dog/Cat: 10 mg/kg body weight twice daily. Fish & Shrimp: 80 mg/kg body weight daily. Amoxicillin powder for injection: For IM/IV/SC administration only. Direction for reconstitution: Moxilin Vet 1 g & 2 g: Add 10 ml water for injection into the each vial respectively & shake well until the powder dissolved properly. Mode of Action
Amoxicillin is classified as a penicillin antibiotic. Antibiotics of this class inhibit a susceptible bacterium from producing a crucial component of the cell wall, weakening and destroying it, causing the organism to die. Amoxicillin is commonly used to treat urinary tract infections because it concentrates in the kidney and urine.
Contraindication
Avoid use in animals with a known allergy or hypersensitivity to penicillin or related antibiotics.
Precautions
Monitoring for signs of gastrointestinal distress is important, and adjusting the dose or duration may be necessary. Extreme caution should be exercised in animals with a known history of penicillin allergy.

Pregnancy & Lactation Category Note
Animal studies showed no fetal risk. However, before administering it to being pregnant or lactating animals, evaluate the danger and necessity.
Interaction
Use with caution in animals with impaired renal function, as amoxicillin is primarily excreted by the kidneys. Potential for drug interactions with other medications, such as bacteriostatic antibiotics.
